Oldus in-house products - lubricant

 

Particularly with pump installation, there are structural fittings that must remain flexible but at the same time be leak proof. During installation, these parts are difficult to assemble or present a risk of damaging sealing elements, which creates a risk that excess amounts or skim may come into contact with the paste or paint mixtures. Conventional lubricants such as grease, oil, or other gliding agents usually have a nonpolar character.

That means: in the event of the migration of lubricants into the paint mixture, grease spots (sometimes referred to as "fisheyes") are likely to form. Products that were only contaminated with minimal amounts of lubricant residue were often unusable, or significantly limited in their quality. For this reason, we developed an installation gel (OLDUS No. 13), which reacts neutrally both to polar and nonpolar paint systems. In addition to good gliding properties, our gel has excellent sealing characteristics: After applying as a thin film to the fit component and the subsequent installation, the gel hardens, but still maintains its gliding properties.

Surface irregularities or damage such as scratches or cracks can be fixed and sealed. When testing the leak tightness of pre-installed used pumps, the quality of our lubricant and sealing agent becomes evident: While the pumps made with untreated components (F&M HA Harbil 2 oz., line 100 St.) show a leak tightness rate of <60%, pumps that were installed using our OLDUS No. 13 gel showed a leak tightness rate of >92%. A series of comparative tests with conventional lubricants showed a leak tightness rate of >74%, an insignificant improvement compared to the tested untreated components.

Very early on, we developed test instruments and test methods for the purpose of pump quality control, so that we are now able to precisely assess the effectiveness of our equipment and our process. Only 100% tight pumps that operate perfectly leave our business premises.

By using our OLDUS lubricant, there is no risk of a deterioration in paint quality in the case of migration. It also creates a better seal on the moving elements of our products, which therefore improves the reliability of your paint dispenser.
